Moleskine Using MWC Payment Connector for Worldpay from FIS and Cegid Retail Y2

We are delighted to announce that Moleskine, the manufacturer and retailer of luxury moleskin planners and notebooks, bags and accessories, are now using MWC Partners’ payment connector to integrate the Worldpay IPC2 payment solution with Cegid Retail Y2 POS software.

Payment connectors are an enabling piece of software that integrate point of sale (POS) applications with payment solutions. They allow payment data to flow from a POS application to a payment service provider (PSP) and vice versa.

When a member of staff presses the pay button on the POS, the action calls the payment connector, which passes information about the transaction – such as the location, device, date, time and amount – to the PSP. The PSP manages the capture of the card details via a pin-entry device (PED) and seeks payment authorisation from the card issuer for the payment.

The MWC payment connector for Worldpay and Cegid Retail‘s Y2 POS software supports payment functions such as sales, refunds, chip and PIN signature and customer not present card transactions, for all major card schemes. These parameters, along with hardware connectivity settings, are fully configurable.

An important feature of the Worldpay connector developed by MWC, and one of the key reasons it was chosen by Moleskine, is its card mapping capability. This provides a breakdown of payments by card scheme and means that staff no longer have to select the appropriate card type when taking payment. This removes errors and ensures end-of-period reconciliation is accurate, simplifying operations in-store.

Implementation of the connector into Moleskine’s UK stores was rapid. Work kicked off at the beginning of December and all UK stores were successfully upgraded within the three weeks before Christmas.
